Kinsella and Farber's tender moment (Kinsella starts hugging Farber… ?)
In favour of Free speech were:
Mike Brock
Noa Aviv
In favour of Section 13 were:
Warren Kinsella
Bernie Farber
And interesting debate, tho I must admit that the panel members did not seem to have a very in-depth knowledge of what Section 13 actually is.
Warren Kinsella spins an odd reason to justify a need for Section 13. Kinsella says: “A kid of colour gets up in the morning and someone has written on his mailbox ‘nigger go home’ or what have you, that is threatening speech and that’s offensive speech”
What no one raised, is that Section 13 would NOT cover such an act anyhow. Section 13 covers non-violent speech on the Internet and on telephone lines. Graffiti, threats, assault, racial comments in person, etc etc etc, are not covered by Section 13.
